Face sags due to the effect of gravity, aging, loss of volume and loss of skin elasticity. Facelift surgery (Rhytidectomy surgery) can lift
up the sagging face and neck and give a younger look to the face. This Facelift Surgery in india is commonly requested after 40 to 50
years of age. You may benefit by facelift surgery if you have noticed any of the following changes in your face.
* A deep line, or fold, running from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth.
* Sagging jawline called jowls, or loss of a well-defined jawline associated with youthfulness.
* Deep wrinkles in the cheeks and sagging of the “highlight” areas of the cheekbones.
* Loose skin, wrinkles, vertical “cords” or excess fatty tissue in the neck.
* Facelift Skin Tightening can Improve all of these problems. It cannot, however, correct conditions such as sagging eyebrows, excess
skin and fatty deposits in the upper and lower eyelids, or wrinkles around the mouth. You will need additional procedures for these.
Face Lift Procedures
Duration of Surgery: 2- 4 hours
Where: Operation theatre
Hospital Stay: 1 day
Recovery: Stitches out in one week. Swelling goes down in 2-3 weeks. Pain minimal.Self Care:
Getting dressed, combing hair, eating: Day of surgery
Preparing tea, heating food: Next day
Cooking, dusting, light household work: 1 week
Activities:Treadmill/Yoga/Swimming: 1 month
How is it Done: The incision is in the hairline, around the ear and behind it. Skin over the cheek is lifted up from underlying muscles,
pulled backwards and upwards and excess skin is cut out and stitched. Underlying muscles also may be tightened and liposuction of
under chin area may be performed. Following surgery, incisions can be easily concealed by your hair or with makeup. There may also be

Eyelids are frequently the first part of the face to show aging. It is done usually to reverse the signs of aging. Occasionally similar
situation may be present in younger individuals and it is done even on persons in their twenties. Any one or combination of the following
conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for surgery.
Excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids.
Loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, perhaps impairing vision.
A puffy appearance to the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tire.
Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelids.
Bags and dark circles under the eyes, often with a depression along the bony border of the lower eyelids.
Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye).
Aesthetic surgery can usually correct these problems, though other treatments may also need to be considered. For example, if the upper eyelid condition is accompanied by sagging of the eyebrows, then a forehead lift may be recommended. Smoothing of crow’s feet may require chemical peeling or laser resurfacing procedures. Circles beneath the eyes caused by dark pigmentation may be treated with chemical peel.
Anaesthesia: General / Local
Duration of Surgery: 1-2 hours
Where: Operation theatre
Hospital Stay: Daycare surgery
Stitches: Removed in 5 days. Scar fades
Recovery: Eyelids are swollen for 1-2 weeks. Back to work in one week
How is it Done: For upper eyelid surgery, generally an incision is hidden within the natural fold of the upper eyelid and extends slightly beyond the outside corner into the laugh lines or other existing creases. Through this incision, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. Because the incision follows the natural contour of the upper eyelid, it will be well camouflaged when healed.
For lower eyelids incision is hidden just below the lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin, muscle and fat are removed, or fat may be redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges.
Scar Revision Surgery
Scars and moles can often be improved with surgery. In scar surgery, more importantly than any other surgery personal assessment and individuals skin type and healing capacity play an important role. Most scars can be improved, but scars will not vanish without a trace. Also result takes at least 6 months to stabilize. Therefore, realistic expectations are important for patient satisfaction.
The following procedures are available for scar/mole improvement:
* Scar Revision Surgery
* Mole Excision
* Old injury scars
* Old badly stitched scars
What is Done: Scar is cut out and removed and skin is stitched with fine materials
How many stages: One or more depending on scar
Anaesthesia: Usually local anaesthesia
Rest: No rest is required
Stitches: Removed in 5-10 days. If you are from outstation, absorbable stitches can be used
Result: Best results in 6 months to 1 year
Frequently Asked Questions – Scar Revision Surgery
Will the scar disappear completely?
No, it will improve a lot and become very faint- visible only on close inspection.
Will the result be immediate?
No, scars take time to mature and improve after surgery. Give it 6 months time.
Do I need to follow any precautions after surgery?
Yes, regular follow-up visits for 6 months are important apart from certain creams.
I am told that result differs from person to person according to skin type and healing quality. What does it mean?
There are 6 types of skins. Fairest and delicate Scandinavian skin is type one and thickest dark African skin is type 6. In between these
are other skin types from fairer to darker. Tendency of scarring is least in fair, type one skin and maximum in dark type 6 skin. Indian
skin is type 4 to 5. Fairer skinned people have better scars than darker people generally.
What is keloid scar?
Keloid is a type of scar that does not stop growing even after the skin is healed. It may grow bigger with time, may be elevated, hard,
red and itchy and sometimes painful. Keloid can sometimes occur after a pinprick, a pimple or without any noticeable injury or surgery.
Keloid is more common on shoulder, chest and back.
What is the treatment of keloid scar?
Prevention is better than cure. After any injury or surgery if the scar is becoming elevated and itchy consult your plastic surgeon
immediately. Fresh keloids can be treated without surgery by injecting steroids into keloid many times, application of pressure and
silicon sheet. Surgery is done only for a few cases because any surgery will cause further keloid. This can be prevented by doing surgery
and injecting steroid into the scar after surgery 3-4 times and follow up with plastic surgeon for a long time to detect and suppress early
reformation of keloid.
What is a hypertrophic scar?
Hypertrophic scar is an elevated bad looking scar, and a milder form of keloid. Treatment is same as keloid.
My father has a keloid scar. Does it mean I also have keloid tendency?
You may have keloid tendency.
My previous operation scars are fine, what are my chances of developing bad scar after my next surgery?
Chances of bad scarring are very low but results also vary from area to area and some areas of body are more prone to scarring than
I had met with an accident some years ago and the scars on my arm are not good. I am now Planning to have a plastic
surgery. Am I likely to have bad scars again?
Scars plastic surgery is better than other scars.
Do self-absorbable stitches give the best result?
Plastic surgeons stitch the wound in layers. Absorbable stitches are used in deeper layers and fine non-absorbable stitches on the skin
surface. Outer stitches are removed in 4 to 5 days. These special nonabsorbable stitches are very smooth, do not leave marks and are
not painful during removal. Absorbable stitches on skin are not preferred because they absorb slowly and may leave marks. Sometimes
absorbable stitches under the skin alone are used and no stitches are applied on skin. Your plastic surgeon is the best person to decide
which kind of technique will suit you the most.
Is it better if my skin is closed with glue rather than the stitches?
Plastic surgery stitches give the best result and do not leave stitch marks. Glue is only for uncooperative children.
My daughter had stitches on her face due to fall. Now she is 6 years old. What is the right age for scar revision surgery?
If she is not very affected by scar and if you can wait it is best to delay the surgery as late as possible that is 16 years or later. There is
a chance that the scar may fade significantly on its own. Grown ups are not scared of local anesthesia and also with maturing of skin
healing tends to be better. If the scarring is too bad and child is being pointed out by others and developing psychological problems, then
surgery can be done earlier.
Is laser better than surgery for scar removal?
Different scars respond to different treatments. Scars that respond to surgery do not respond to laser and vice versa. Generally
speaking very few types of scars respond to laser.
What is Done: Mole is cut out and removed and skin is stitched with fine materials. If mole is suspicious then it is removed with a
margin of healthy skin and sent for biopsy. If mole is too big or close to eye/nose/mouth then more complex procedures like flap pr full
thickness skin grafting may be required. In case of simple small moles only shaving with knife or radiofrequency without any stitches is
How many stages: One or more depending on mole
Anaesthesia: Usually local anaesthesia
Rest: No rest is required usually
Stitches: Removed in 5-10 days. If you are from outstation, absorbable stitches can be used
Result: A fine line like scar which improves over next 6 months to one year. Therefore you should plan this surgery much in advance of
any important event like marriage. The resulting scar is very fine and visible only on closer look.

“Gynaecomastia” is a Greek word meaning “women-like breasts.” It is a common condition affecting 60-70 percent of males sometime
during teenage years. Mostly these breasts are relatively small, regress spontaneously in a couple of years and do not become a cause
of concern. Gynecomastia becomes bothersome when
* Breasts are too large and showing through clothing.
* Causing embarrassment in wearing gym wear and swimming trunks or going shirtless.
* Causing psychological trauma.
Gynaecomastia Surgery or Gynaecomastia Treatment / Breast Reduction India can affect slim and athletic men as well as obese men.

How is it Done: Modern Gynaecomastia / Male Breast Reduction India is frequently combined with liposuction. Tumescent solution is
injected into the breast and liposuction of breast is done. Liposuction involves sucking out fatty tissue in liquid form by hollow metal
tubes through small hidden holes. Liposuction alone is usually not successful in completely treating gynaecomastia because the tough
glands and fibrous tissues can not be sucked out. Therefore after liposuction removal of remaining tissues is done through a semicircular
cut along the lower margin of areola (the dark skin around the nipple). The complete removal of extra tissue is thus done and skin lies
flat on muscle. Stitches are self absorbable. Excess skin in grade I and II gynaecomastia usually shrinks but in very large grade III
gynaecomastias removal of skin is required through extra incisions. There is a drain (soft plastic tube) and padded compressive dressing
on chest. Drain is removed and dressing changed on next day. After that a compressive vest or crepe bandage is worn 24 hours a day
for a month.
The recovery time may be less or more depending on individual healing.
Frequently Asked Questions – Male Breast Reduction
Why do breasts enlarge in some men?
Both male and female fetuses in uterus have breast buds. In female the breast glands grow under the influence of female hormones during puberty, pregnancy and breastfeeding. In males breast gland remain underdeveloped because they have male hormones and very little female hormones. During puberty and development of secondary sexual characters, if the delicate balance of male and female hormones is disturbed male breast gland can grow and look like female breast. Most times the blood hormone levels do not show this imbalance and the problem is entirely due to breast glands being oversensitive to normal level of hormones. That is why men with gynaecomastia do not have any other symptom of feminization and they are perfectly virile.
Are there different kinds of gynaecomastia?
“True gynaecomastia” is seen in men of normal weight. Here breast is composed of glands, tough fibrous tissue and some fat intermingled with each other. In “Pseudogynaecomastia” which is found in obese people fat element is predominant. Gynaecomastia is classified into grade Ist to Grade IIIrd, depending on size, grade 3 being large and saggy breasts, literally indistinguishable from female breasts.
How is gynaecomastia surgery done?
Modern gynaecomastia surgery is frequently combined with liposuction. Tumescent solution is injected into the breast and liposuction of breast is done. Liposuction involves sucking out fatty tissue in liquid form by hollow metal tubes through small hidden holes. Liposuction alone is usually not successful in completely treating gynaecomastia because the tough glands and fibrous tissues can not be sucked out. Therefore after liposuction removal of remaining tissues is done through a semicircular cut along the lower margin of areola( the dark skin around the nipple). The complete removal of extra tissue is thus done and skin lies flat on muscle. Stitches are self absorbable. Excess skin in grade I and II gynaecomastia usually shrinks but in very large grade III gynaecomastias removal of skin is required through extra incisions. There is a drain( soft plastic tube) and padded compressive dressing on chest. Drain is removed and dressing changed on next day. After that a compressive vest or crepe bandage is worn 24 hours a day for a month.
What are the causes of gynaecomastia?
In majority of cases there is no specific cause and it is due to hypersensitivity of breast to circulating female hormones (estrogen) during puberty. Hormonal analysis of blood usually is normal in these cases. Obesity and fat deposit in the breast also is a common situation nowadays. Obesity is also associated with relative estrogen excess. Physiological gynaecomastia can also occur in newborns and in old age.
In a very small number of cases gynaecomastia may be due to some specific cause like:
* Usage of certain drugs like anabolic steroids, estrogens (for treatment of prostate cancer), long term usage of antacids like
cimetedine and omeprazole, some drugs used for treating psychosis, spironolactone and finasteride (antiandrogens), imatinib.
* Supplements used for body building containing anabolic steroids or performance enhancing substances containing hormone
* Addictives like alcohol or marijuana.
* Some genetic conditions like Klienfelter’s syndrome.
* Chronic liver disease, hyperthyroidism, adrenal tumors.
* Diseases of testes of pituitary leading to reduction in male hormones.
Are there any tests required to diagnose gynaecomastia?
Pubertal gynaecomastia usually spontaneously subsides by 18 years of age without any treatment. Otherwise there are no medications for treating this condition. Plastic surgery can cure it permanently.
What is the right age for gynaecomastia surgery?
Surgery can be done at any age safely if gynaecomastia is causing psychological distress. If person is comfortable with it he can wait till the age of 18 because there is a chance it can regress by itself.
Does losing weight or exercising helps to cure gynaecomastia?
In case of true gynaecomastia person is usually normal in weight and breast enlargement is due to overgrowth of gland , weight loss does not help. In other cases where there is some element of obesity weight loss affects the breasts size somewhat but does not usually cure it entirely. Exercising the pectorals may further highlight the breast gland.
Can gynaecomastia come back after surgery?
Surgery offers permanent cure. Only exception being in some obese people where gynaecomastia was treated by liposuction. If they do not maintain weight fat can come back on chest.
Can gynaecomastia be treated by liposuction alone?
Liposuction involves sucking out fatty tissue in liquid form by hollow metal tubes through small hidden holes. Liposuction alone is usually not successful in completely treating gynaecomastia because the tough glands and fibrous tissues can not be sucked out. Therefore after liposuction removal of remaining tissues through a small cut gives results. Occasionally liposuction alone may work in very soft and fatty breasts but it is difficult to predict that beforehand. If after liposuction the chest is completely flat surgeon can decide to stop with liposuction alone.
What result can I expect after gynaecomastia surgery?
You can expect flat normal chest after surgery. If you have been going to gym and not able to achieve pectoral muscle definition you can do so after surgery. Scars are minimal to begin with and usually fade in a couple of months. If your gynaecomastia is very large (Grade IIIrd) then you can expect some additional scars.
Is it necessary to wear compression garment after surgery?
Surgery is followed by swelling of the operated area usually. Compression garment helps in early reduction of swelling. It also helps in skin redraping in larger gynaecomastia. Garment provide firm but elastic compression. It should be worn 24 hours a day except during bath, for one month. It helps to keep an extra garment for washing.
How many days I should take leave from my job for the surgery?
One week is the usual time. It can be less or more depending on the nature of your job.
I am from another city. How long do I need to stay in Hyderabad after surgery?
Two to three days stay after surgery is adequate usually.
How many days of hospital stay is required?
It is a day care surgery so you can leave the hospital 6 hours after surgery. Like any day care surgery it is mandatory for you to have someone to take your place of stay with you for next 24 hours to reach the hospital in case of any need. People without any attendant may choose to stay in hospital for 24 hours.
What care is needed after surgery?
Dressing is changed and drain is removed the next day in the clinic. On fourth day you can take shower and remove your dressing. Subsequently every day after bath you just need to apply antibiotic ointment and cover the nipple with sterile cotton pads (available in market ) and use compression garment to keep them in place. You will also need to take oral antibiotics and painkillers as advised by doctor. After first week usually medicines and dressing are not required. Compression garment alone is continued 24 hours a day for next 1 month.
When is the healing complete?
Stitches are healed in 10 days. There is swelling, bruising and tenderness over the chest which goes down over next couple of weeks. Final results are appreciable after 1 month with some more improvement over next 6 months. Scars fade gradually over next one year.
Can the scars be prominent sometimes?
Scars behave differently in different people. Usually they are inconspicuous but in some people with tendency of forming bad scars can become hypertrophic or keloidal. If scars are looking red or itchy after 1 month it is advised to consult your plastic surgeon immediately to treat them early.
What are the possible risks involved with gynaecomastia surgery?
Occasionally here can be numbness or lack of sensation that could last up to a year. Infrequent complications may include infection, nipple damage, fluid accumulation, bleeding, scarring or pigment changes. Post-operative asymmetry, while rare, is possible; a second procedure may be needed to remove additional tissue. Like any other surgery small risk of anaesthesia should be borne in mind.
Can gynaecomastia surgery be done under local anesthesia?
Yes, occasionally when gynaecomastia is small, local anaesthesia alone can be used.
Can gynaecomastia surgery be combined with other surgeries?
Gynaecomastia surgery is commonly combined with abdominal liposuction and facial surgeries like rhinoplasty.

Back Fat Liposuction
Liposuction in India is a popular surgical procedure for removing fat from particular areas of body. If you are considering liposuction surgery its very important for you to know if you will be suitably benefitted by this surgery.
There are three main categories of people who seek best liposuction surgeon India.
Category I: People with Nearly Normal Weight
Contrary to common perception these are the best candidates for liposuction.
Ideal candidates for liposuction in India:
* Men and women of normal weight who mainly want to improve their body shape and contours.
* People with fat deposits that are “trouble areas”, where exercise and diet seem not to have any effect, like love handles, abdomen, hips, arms.
* People with good elasticity in their skin, so when the fat is removed, they will achieve a smooth appearance.
Category II: Moderately Overweight
Those who are 10 to 50 percent above their normal weight, with fat everywhere but relatively excessive in one or two body parts like hips, abdomen, thighs. These body parts can be selectively liposuctioned to bring in harmony with rest of the body.
These people seek liposuction because they are unable to get back in shape with their diet and exercise or they have a short term slimming target in a few months for some important event.
Safety: Liposuction of fat from one or two areas at a time with limited fat removal is safe.
Results:Results will need to be maintained. If the basic reason for weight gain like unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle remain then the fat is bound to reaccumulate. Results are long lasting and can even improve if person adopts healthy lifestyle.
Category III: Grossly Obese
Those who are 30 to 100 percent or more above their ideal body weight are not good candidates for liposuction. These people have bulges everywhere and sometimes they suffer from obesity related conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and hypercholesterolemia. They want liposuction for weight reduction. This group does not benefit from liposuction even though liposuction is possible.
Liposuction is not meant for loosing weight from overall body. Expecting to loose a more then 6 to 7 kgs of weight by liposuction can be risky.
Poor, because limited amount of fat that can be removed in one sitting will not give satisfactory look. Unless they change their lifestyle drastically fat will come back.
