DayOne Health Chicago
Gastric Balloon Gastric balloon is a weight loss device placed inside a stomach to limit its capacity and allow patients to feel full with smaller portions. The balloon is placed endoscopically (via mouth) and then filled with saline fluid. Depending on the size of your stomach, the surgeon will decide on the optimal amount of fluid to fill your balloon. The intention is for the gastric balloon to occupy approximately two thirds of the stomach. The gastric balloon device (Orbera) currently offered by DayOne Health can hold anywhere between 400 and 700cc of fluid. The gastric balloon is placed for a maximum period of six months. If you decide to undergo the gastric balloon procedure, you must remember that the balloon is intended to stay in your stomach for a limited time. Patients must agree to come back to see the physician for the balloon to be removed. In order to achieve the best results, patients who undergo gastric balloon procedure are recommended to meet with a bariatric dietitian to establish healthier eating habits and to create a plan for regular physical activity. At DayOne Health we will provide you with dietary counseling free of charge to support you throughout your weight loss journey. Read More
