Dimple on the cheek is considered lucky in many societies. They also make the person look attractive, when smiling. Natural dimple can be seen on one or both the cheeks. A natural dimple is formed when there is a small defect in the cheek muscles, with the overlying skin stuck to the underlying connective tissue. The muscle contracts when the person smiles, splitting apart and allowing the skin to indent forming the dimple. Dimple on the cheek can be created on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia. Initially, the dimple will appear static, but after 6-8 weeks, it appears only when the person smiles.
